editing.

I'm a procrastinator.
And when you combine that with the fact that I strongly dislike editing, I end up editing my novel... one chapter per month.

I'll rewrite the same paragraph three thousand or so times, just to find that I liked it best the first way.

I don't know why I dislike editing so much. Maybe it's because I hate grammar, I'm a perfectionist, and it's annoying to correct my own mistakes.

I've been trying to edit my NaNoNovel since the end of December. I've gotten through chapter 7 of 14, and the entire ending needs to be rewritten/expanded. I ended it much to abruptly the first time.

I wish I was a good enough writer that I wouldn't have to edit. But I know that editing is a great learning experience--every year I learn something new that helps my writing skills. And it's also humbling to see all of the stupid mistakes I make. It reminds me that I'm not perfect, and I never will be.
